What is your role?
Head of Year 7 & Transition - As Head of Year, I will be there to say well done when you get things right, provide help and support when you need it and also help you learn lessons when things don't quite go to plan, or mistakes are made. Along with the others in the Y7 team, your form tutors as well as subject teachers, I help you to be the best students you can - both personally and academically. I am also responsible for setting consequences for poor behaviour or when the standards we have as a school are not met. I work closely with staff to help try and ensure that all students demonstrate the right attitude, treat people with respect and follow our school ethos 'Dream big, Work hard and Be kind'
When did you start working at The Cooper School?
I started in July 2011 as a History teacher and alongside this have had additional roles including Deputy Head of Post 16, Head of House before focussing on Year 7s and their transition from primary school since 2018.
Where are you mostly located in the school?
I will usually be teaching somewhere in the History department or teaching elsewhere in the school, you will also see me at lunchtime in the Y7 social time zone. I'll also be popping into your lessons, Lesson 0 classrooms, and leading our weekly assemblies. I do not work on a Wednesday but on that day Miss Field will be your sole Head of Year, supported by other key staff including your Personal Development Mentors (PDMs).
What do you like to do when you're not in school?
I like spending time with my lovely family (I have two children) and watching sport on TV. I am a keen Liverpool FC supporter!
